FRAM Grows UFC® Presence with Sponsorship Deals of Fighters Cerrone and Hendricks
Lightweight contender Donald "Cowboy" Cerrone to fight in co-main event at UFC® 182 on Jan. 3
Former welterweight champion Johny "Bigg Rigg" Hendricks seeks 2015 rematch with new welterweight champion Robbie Lawler
LAKE FOREST, Ill., Jan. 2, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- FRAM, a leading U.S. oil filter brand, today announced that it has extended its partnership with the UFC® and signed two UFC athletes to sponsorship deals: former welterweight champion Johny "Bigg Rigg" Hendricks and lightweight contender Donald "Cowboy" Cerrone. The Team FRAM Athletes will appear in future advertising and promotional campaigns for FRAM. In addition to signing Hendricks and Cerrone, FRAM will also support the UFC in 2015 through octagon signage in major fights and prominent advertising schedules on televised UFC fights and MMA websites.
Johny "Bigg Rigg" Hendricks is the former welterweight champion and a two-time NCAA wrestling champion from Oklahoma State. Following a hotly contested bout with Robbie Lawler at UFC® 181 in Dec., Hendricks conceded the welterweight title belt and is eagerly awaiting a potential rubber match with Robbie Lawler in 2015.
Donald "Cowboy" Cerrone, winner of his last five bouts in the Octagon®, will take on Myles "Fury" Jury at UFC 182 on Sat., Jan. 3 in Las Vegas. The fight matches 31-year-old lightweight contender Cerrone, who looks to keep his hot streak going, against the undefeated No. 8-ranked lightweight Jury. Cerrone, who trains in Albuquerque, N.M., regularly drives his 40-plus-foot RV to his fight card appearances, opting for the comfort of his own space over airline flights.
"We're excited to partner with these UFC athletes – their commitment and attitude in the Octagon make them the perfect extension of the 'Do It Right' mentality our filters and brand stand for at FRAM," said Rich Fleming, vice president of sales and marketing for FRAM Filtration.
"When I step into the Octagon, I'm going out there to get the job done right so there aren't any questions at the end of a fight," said Hendricks. "I know what it takes to work on your own vehicle and that's what I like about FRAM. No questions asked; just a job done right every time."
Said Cerrone, "I love the journey of being on the road. Traveling across the country builds your character; you can't rely on everything going perfect so you have to set yourself up with the best tools or preparation to get you where you're going. I think FRAM is helping people do just that, which I support."
UFC® 182: CERRONE vs. JURY will be available live on Pay-Per-View, and broadcast in select theaters nationwide, at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT, Sat., Jan 3. For more information visit UFC.com.
