CHARLOTTE, N.C., Sept. 13, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Healthstat, Inc., one of the country's most innovative workplace health promotion and wellness providers, has hired Phillip Franklin, MD, MPH, MBA as Chief Medical Officer. In this role, Dr. Franklin will oversee all wellness initiatives offered by Healthstat, including but not limited to its clinical team, day-to-day clinic operations, health assessments, pharmacy and occupational health services. He has 30 years of professional experience in the field of medicine, including corporate health and wellness, a major medical university, and the U.S. armed services.

Prior to joining Healthstat, Dr. Franklin served for five years as the Corporate Medical Director for Bayer Life Sciences in Whippany, New Jersey. He also served six years as Corporate Medical Director for pharmaceutical company Sanofi Aventis and six years as Medical Director for the General Motors Assembly Plant in Wilmington, Delaware. Since 1997 he has served on the medical staff of Johns Hopkins University's Department of Occupational and Environmental Medicine. Dr. Franklin began his professional career as a medical officer in the U.S. Army and held a number of medical positions within the army over the course of nine years.

He holds a Master of Business Administration in the Business of Health from Johns Hopkins University; a Master of Public Health from West Virginia University; an M.D. from the University of Colorado School of Medicine; and a Bachelor of Arts in biology from Colorado College.
