FPU and CFG customers can soon access a self-service home energy audit, a comprehensive residential energy library and a special interactive Kids Korner section on www.fpuc.com to discover the most effective steps to reduce their energy consumption and cost. The flagship tool within APOGEE's HomeEnergySuite™ is the fast, easy-to-use HomeEnergyCalculator™, which has been customized to reflect the respective service area's home construction standards, weather zones and common home energy equipment.
In addition, energy conservation representatives will be trained on APOGEE's corresponding home energy audit platform for in-home audits, called EnergyInsights™. This assures customers receive the highest accuracy in evaluating their home's energy use and savings alternatives, whether they choose to use the self-service tool or request a free in-home audit from FPU and CFG. EnergyInsights is one of only a few home energy audit platforms to pass a battery of stringent tests conducted by the Department of Energy and the National Renewable Energy Lab for analytical accuracy and certification by RESNET® as a home energy rating software tool.
"Often what makes a home most energy efficient is hard to see," said Jason Van Hoffman, Energy Conservation Manager for FPU. "Better insulation, fewer air leaks, more energy-efficient appliances and attention to thermostat settings are all big money and energy savers. These new online tools will give residents a sense of their home's current efficiency and estimate the dollar savings possible for each potential improvement they could make."
"We're delighted to support FPU's conservation programs and provide online resources to help guide customers to the high impact changes they can make to improve their energy footprint and stewardship," said Susan Gilbert, President and Chief Executive Officer of APOGEE.
