Firstbeat Introduces a Game Changer for Elite Sports Coaching
The New Training Effect reveals athlete's physiological performance in real-time enabling coaches to make better training decisions
JYVÄSKYLÄ, Finland, December 16, 2015 /PRNewswire/ --
Firstbeat announces a new Training Effect (TE) feature for team sports that tracks how hard the exercise session was and what properties the players developed. Training Effect is a unique and powerful tool for gaining insight into how training sessions impact fitness levels and performance based on heart rate monitoring. Over 500 professional teams around the world including the Golden State Warriors, Sao Paulo FC, San Jose Sharks and Manchester City optimize their performance with Firstbeat.

After several years of physiological research and testing, the new Training Effect is capable of differentiating and independently assessing the impact of aerobic and anaerobic activity on an athlete's physical condition. This development enables coaches and athletes to best match the content of their training with the competitive demands of their sport.
Enhanced Training Effect for Critical Coaching Decisions:
For the first time, contributions of the anaerobic energy system to Training Effect are automatically identified and analyzed on the basis of intensity, duration, and prior recovery. This innovation strengthens Training Effect with the ability to capture the full range of activities that occur during training.
With the revised Training Effect installed, coaches can now see the degree to which aerobic and anaerobic activity are contributing to the session's TE-score, adjust the training in real-time and deliver feedback for the entire team or individual athletes separately. The new TE-score composition capability is also reflected in the contents of post-training reports.
"Coaches don't have time for complex data. A team of Firstbeat physiologists and engineers have summed a number of physiological variables into one key performance indicator and an easy-to-read percentage bar diagram for the anaerobic /aerobic training effect. Listening our elite sports customers, we believe this innovation enables better training planning than ever before", comments Manager of Firstbeat Sports, Veli-Pekka Kurunmäki.
These enhancements improve the versatility of Training Effect and make it easier than ever for coaches and athletes to match the content of their training to the unique demands of their sport and position on the field or court. This innovation will have a major impact on how sports with high aerobic and anaerobic loads such as basketball, ice-hockey, rugby, soccer and football are coached. Coaches can now optimize training for each athlete and put the right emphasis on recovery, making it easier to prevent injuries and overtraining.
The enhanced Training Effect feature will be available to elite sports users on the Firstbeat Sports platform beginning December 16th.
