First long reach THX® Certified 4K Interconnect technology debuts at CEDIA 2016
Pixelgen announces 3 max bandwidth extensions to deliver 18Gbps up to 30m
DALLAS, Sept. 16, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Canadian innovator Pixelgen Design Inc. today announced three interconnect solutions delivering full-bandwidth 18Gbps up to 30m that are making their debut at CEDIA 2016:
- PXLDRIVE™ (for 10m and 15m lengths),
- Passive Pixelgen™ cables (in lengths of up to 5m), and
- Pixelgen™ Fiber (in 20m and 30m lengths).
PXLDRIVE™ is the industry's first active long-reach THX® Certified 4K Interconnect solution, capable of boosting full-bandwidth 4K reach capabilities up to 15m. Priced at $249 MSRP, PXLDRIVE™ is a single small signal processing device that is installed between pre-existing or new long-length passive HDMI® cable and the display.
This retrofittable standalone solution is perfect for use with HDMI 4K devices in dedicated cinema rooms where pre-existing long-reach cables are failing to meet the bandwidth requirements.
Pixelgen also offers PXLDRIVE™ in a complete end-to-end long-reach cable bundle solution – the 'Max 4K Interconnect System' – available in 10m and 15m lengths for $279 and $299 MSRP.
"As 4K Ultra HD technology matures and content creators begin supporting the format in its full potential we observe that in long-reach applications inferior interconnects can impede the entertainment experience. PXLDRIVE and the Max 4K Interconnect System are the first and only THX Certified 10 meter plus solutions that guarantee the performance potential of all full-bandwidth 4K Ultra HD, HDR, HFR, WCG content formats," said Matt Severaid, THX Director of Integrated Product Marketing. "THX Certification also ensures that all HDMI functionality including CEC 2.0, HEC and ARC are supported by the cables."
Pixelgen will also preview their 4K-capable and 18Gbps Pixelgen™ cable range. Available in 0.3m, 0.5m, 1m, 2m, 3m, and 5m lengths, Pixelgen™ cables are THX® Certified. Cables start from $12 MSRP with dealer pricing available.
Finally, Pixelgen™ Fiber will also be on display. This hybrid optical fiber/copper interconnect ensures incredible lengths and full HDMI capability over lengths of 20m or 30m.
"Our background in high-speed signal integrity methods has allowed us to develop robust, high-quality solutions that we're convinced will stand on their own in the field," said Jack MacDougall, Pixelgen founder.
"Long-reach extensions that act like a 1m HDMI cable… That kind of performance just isn't available anywhere else," MacDougall said.
"It's simple. When you need resolution, you need Pixelgen."
Designed in-house by MacDougall, who has over 15 years of industry experience developing signal management products, Pixelgen's range of Max 4K Interconnect products are guaranteed to support all A/V formats (including 4K60 4:4:4, HDR & WCG) and all functionality currently listed in the latest HDMI specification.
Capable of reviving uncompressed HDMI signals up to the maximum UHD bit rate, Pixelgen products fill one of the biggest "missing links" in the custom installation market – robust 18Gbps extenders.
PXLDRIVE™ and Pixelgen™ cables are available for pre-order Sept. 16, 2016 and will begin shipping Oct. 10, 2016. Pixelgen™ Fiber is available for pre-order Oct. 15, 2016 and ships December 1, 2016.
