MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., Oct. 4, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Filld and Bentley Motors announced today that they are working together to give Bentley automobiles the ability to automatically order gas whenever the tank is low. Filld and Bentley are currently testing the service using select Bentley cars throughout the San Francisco Bay Area and will soon expand the offering.
Filld is a company that allows its customers to get gas delivered directly to their cars. Orders are easily placed through a mobile app available on Android and iOS, and high-quality gas is delivered using professionally-trained commercially-licensed drivers in DOT-certified safe trucks. To keep costs low, Filld matches the price of the lowest nearby gas stations and adds a small delivery fee, typically $3.
In Bentley's quest to provide its customers with the most useful connected car services, the company reached out to Filld in January 2016 to discuss a partnership. The first ever automated fuel order was completed in July by a 2016 Flying Spur. The pilot program will continue to expand throughout the fall.
"Bentley ownership is about more than just the vehicle – it's the entire luxury experience," said Christophe Georges, Bentley's Director of Product and Marketing. "We are continuously investigating ways in which to offer our customers bespoke, unobtrusive, concierge-style services that afford them the greatest luxury of all: more time. Our Connected Car strategy will continue to expand and innovate in order to further enhance the Bentley lifestyle."
This automated gas delivery project has involved both software and hardware development. When a participating Bentley goes below a quarter tank, it sends a signal to Filld and is placed into Filld's delivery queue. A Filld driver is notified of the location of the car and is able to pop the gas flap upon arriving at the vehicle. Bentley owners can track their car's orders via their smartphone.
"Our vision has always been to make our service invisible, filling customers' tanks automatically so they never have to worry about getting gas again," said Chris Aubuchon, Filld Founder and CTO. "Thanks to Bentley's appetite for innovation, that is now a reality. We're excited to serve Bentley owners and expand our service to other forward-thinking auto enthusiasts."
For those who don't yet own a Bentley, the Filld app is available in the Apple and Google app stores.
