Fighting Back: 2016 Obama's America Director D'Souza And Producer Molen Answer Critics
President's Attack, "Racist" Reviews Dismisses Truth of Film
LOS ANGELES, Sept. 14, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- When veteran Hollywood producer Gerald R. Molen, whose list of production credits includes Schindler's List, Jurassic Park and Minority Report agreed to produce 2016: Obama's America, he expected some criticism, but he never imagined it would come from highly respected film critics and that his work would be labeled as "racist" by an Entertainment Weekly "critique."
Likewise New York Times bestselling author Dinesh D'Souza never imagined that his film would generate a direct attack from the President of the United States who attacked the film as it crossed the $27 million mark in box office cash and became the #2 biggest selling political documentary in history. The notoriety earned D'Souza an attack from President Obama who labeled it "an attempt to dishonestly smear" him and Molen a hate-filled "review" by Entertainment Weekly's Owen Gleiberman who said the film was "at its heart, fundamentally racist."
"The people are very smart and they won't be dissuaded by smear merchants who seek destruction through character assassination," said Molen. "The folks, not liberal film critics who are out touch with the people they purport to serve, will decide the fate of our movie. I'm calling on all fair-minded Americans to respond to this hate-speech with the most effective tools they have: their feet, and, oh yes, their social network. I hope they will send a message to liberal film critics by going back to the theater to watch 2016-this time with friends."
Molen responded in depth to the attack in an opinion piece posted at the website Townhall.com.
D'Souza responded to all of President Obama's attack with a point by point refutation at Thewrap.com in which he concluded: "I'm not concerned about being the recipient of Obama's rage. I've earned it. If he's scared of the film 2016: Obama's America, perhaps he has reason to be scared. So let's debate the issues, Mr. President. But let's stick to the facts. And be careful, sir. Your rage is showing."

"To paraphrase Gandhi, first they ignored us, then they called us names and now we're winning at the box office because the truth always wins out," said Molen.
