Female-led startup, Bloomerent, allows you to save money and reduce floral waste by sharing your wedding flowers with another event.
NEW YORK, April 27, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- The average bride spends 10-15% of her overall wedding budget on flowers. In New York City, where the average wedding costs $76,000, that means that brides and grooms spend anywhere from $7,600-$11,400 for flowers that are thrown out after a few hours.
Danit Zamir, Co-Founder of Bloomerent, was shocked by the price and waste of flowers while planning her wedding in 2014. After spending more than she expected on her centerpieces that were used for 6 hours, she saw her flowers disposed of in trash bags at the end of the night. Realizing the size of the market and need for a solution she conceptualized and launched Bloomerent: an online platform for brides, grooms and event hosts to share flowers between two events in close proximity.
By heading to www.bloomerent.com, event hosts can connect with florists in their area and choose to either list their centerpieces to be shared or pick from a list of available centerpieces to opt into. Bloomerent works with a hand-picked community of florists who are top-rated across the board and responsible for repurposing shared blooms. Both the first and second event are required to work with the same florist creating the shared centerpieces to ensure that the flowers always look their best.
Customers are rewarded for sharing by receiving a portion of their money back; the exact amount is dependent on whether they are the first or second event. Florists receive leads from Bloomerent and make additional revenue while reducing waste as they repurpose fresh flowers for a second event. The process is a win/win solution for both customers and florists while offering a green alternative.
Co-Founder Julia Capalino notes, "There's a misconception that when the wedding ends, the flowers die. The reality is that flowers have a lifespan of 3-14 days depending on the flower and we work directly with the experts to make sure they are perfect for both events."
With a number of top-rated florists in the northeast already onboard, Bloomerent is poised for rapid growth and nationwide expansion in the next few months.
