FRISCO, Texas, Nov. 12, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Today, United States Magistrate Judge Don Bush issued a preliminary injunction in Insight for Living Ministries' (IFLM) lawsuit challenging the federal government's HHS Abortion Mandate. IFLM is the Bible-teaching ministry of well-known ministry leader Pastor Charles R. Swindoll, former President and current Chancellor of Dallas Theological Seminary (DTS), Founder and Senior Pastor-Teacher of Stonebriar Community Church in Frisco, Texas. Liberty Institute represents IFLM in the lawsuit filed in the Eastern District of Texas. The favorable ruling provides IFLM relief from the federal government's abortion mandate that requires even Christian ministries to facilitate insurance coverage for abortion-inducing drugs and devices.
"We are very encouraged by today's outcome," said Matthew Kacsmaryk, Liberty Institute's Deputy General Counsel. "This is an important victory for faith-based ministries that seek to provide life-affirming healthcare insurance for all their employees." Mr. Kacsmaryk explained, "IFLM believes it is a religious imperative to provide healthcare insurance and defend unborn human life. Under the Religious Freedom Restoration Act, the federal government cannot force IFLM to choose between these two religious beliefs."
