The Reign of the Gila Monster is a comedic western that brings the term "tall-tale" to whole new proportions. It was written by Hubbard during the hey-day of pulp fiction and will be performed by:
- Martin Kove is best known for his portrayal as the evil karate sensei, John Kreese, in The Karate Kid trilogy. He's participated in some 100 films including Rambo II with Sylvester Stalone, Wyatt Earp with Kevin Costner, The Gambler miniseries with Kenny Rogers. He also starred in the Emmy-winning TV series Cagney and Lacey for six years as Detective Victor Isbecki.
- Bo Hopkins has appeared in more than one hundred film and television roles in a career of more than forty years, including American Graffiti as Joe, the head of the Pharaohs, White Lightning as Burt Reynold's sidekick, The Bridge at Remagen, The Wild Bunch, The Getaway, The Killer Elite, Midnight Express, More American Graffiti and A Small Town in Texas.
- Lee DeBroux first appeared onscreen in the late '60s. He is no stranger to the western, appearing in many throughout his entire career including such favorites as Gunsmoke and Bonanza for television and has appeared in such feature films as Wild Bill, Young Guns II, Robo Cop, Above the Law and Chinatown.
- Josh Thompson is known for his celebrity impersonator performances on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, including Arnold Schwarzenegger, Morgan Freeman and Robert DeNiro.
- Jesse Kove is known for his roles in Bare Knuckles and soon to be released Ballistica.
Like other great pulp writers that included names such as Edgar Rice Burroughs, Raymond Chandler, Agatha Christie and Dashiell Hammett, Hubbard rapidly became a mainstay of popular fiction in the 20th century. However, Hubbard was unlike most authors of the day, as his stories covered a wide spectrum of genres, including adventure, western, mystery, detective, fantasy, science fiction and even some romance, using his own and 15 pen names.
