Fairmont Private Schools' Summer Program Announces Line-up for 2010
ANAHEIM, Calif., March 15 /PRNewswire/ -- The school year is a tough act to follow for kids who are ready for a change of pace. Fairmont Private Schools has struck a balance between fun and learning with their 2010 summer program which includes a recreational day camp, enrichment workshops, traditional summer school and hybrid in-class/online courses for high school students. Information and enrollment is available on the Fairmont Private Schools' summer program website at www.fairmontsummerprograms.com.
What sets Fairmont's summer line-up apart from other programs is a focus on academics, says Summer Program Director Jamie Gonce. "Our team gets really creative about finding ways to pique our campers' academic curiosity. The kids are having so much fun they don't even know they're learning and gaining academic skills to help them when school rolls around in the fall."
Designed with today's savvy students and busy families in mind, Fairmont's summer program features a range of options and flexible scheduling to allow for a truly customizable summer learning experience. Fairmont Private Schools' summer programs are open to the public and provide students of varying ages and abilities the chance to benefit from a private school environment over the summer.
Fairmont's 2010 summer camp is not your ordinary day camp. Every day there's a new line-up of academic activities for preschool to middle school-aged children including hands-on art projects, science experiments, team sports, special guest visitors, swimming/water play, cooking, crafts and field trips. This year's circus theme promises plenty of big top excitement!
In addition to educational day camp activities that include science experimentation, hands-on art projects and educational field trips, children can choose from a range of fun workshops that zero in on academic subjects like writing, math and science.
Fairmont's elementary summer school is ideal for students in need of remediation or additional academic challenges. Open to the public, summer school provides students of varying abilities a personalized approach, highly skilled teachers and technology-enhanced learning.
"More than ever before, our summer school teachers will focus on individualized learning," says Director of Summer Programs Jamie Gonce who worked with Fairmont's Director of Education to reinvigorate the summer school program this year. "We want to make learning fun, so teachers are incorporating hands-on technology tools like Activotes and interactive white boards into lessons. And our summer school program will feature a revitalized curriculum that helps keep kids on track for success during the coming school year," she says.
New this year, are hybrid in-class/online courses for high school students. With Fairmont's hybrid online program, students attend class for labs, projects and other pertinent group interactions while completing 50-80% of courses online. A total of 16 for-credit high school courses are available as hybrid online courses including Geometry, Chemistry, Biology and US History. To enroll online or for more information, visit www.fairmontpreponline.com. Fairmont's Preparatory Academy also offers several traditional summer school courses as well as enrichment workshops.
The reach of Fairmont's summer program is not limited to students in Southern California. Summer academic workshops and customized programs are available during summer months at Fairmont's Mable Campus (Grades 1-6) and International Academy (Grades 7-11).
