Emergency call-takers, dispatchers and first responders are using Intergraph's incident management, mobile and reporting software for computer-aided dispatch and law enforcement records management to streamline response to more than 1 million calls for emergency service each year. The Intergraph solution is now used by more than 1,100 mobile users and 70 call-takers and dispatchers in the county's new, state-of-the-art 9-1-1 Center, at the McConnell Public Safety and Transportation Operations Center.
In addition to the deployment of Intergraph's suite of integrated public safety and security software, Fairfax County also developed a regional interoperability program, the Data Exchange Hub, in several jurisdictions in the northern Virginia area. This capability allows, for the first time, multiple jurisdictions to view real-time common incident data for faster mutual aid dispatch, regardless of the computer aided dispatch (CAD) provider. Intergraph's computer-aided dispatch system will interface with other pilot localities' CAD systems in the region for enhancing multi-agency and multi-jurisdictional information sharing, optimized emergency response resource management and mutual aid efforts.
"The modernization of the emergency response technologies in the Department of Public Safety Communications underscores our commitment to serving those who live and work in Fairfax County and providing the public with swift and effective response when they need our assistance," said Steve Souder, director of the Department of Public Safety Communications. "This modernization effort included a 'next-generation' vision to ensure our technology and infrastructure meet the response needs of today and the evolving challenges of tomorrow. Intergraph's solutions support our mission and provide us with the advanced functionality and reliability that we require to improve and effectively manage the response to, follow-up and recovery and more in-depth analysis of emergency events."
"This initiative is part of Fairfax County's ongoing enterprise technology strategy and commitment to promote leveraging IT investments for common, interoperable platforms between county agencies, and in partnering with our neighboring jurisdictions for improving opportunities via interoperability," said Fairfax County Chief Information Officer Wanda Gibson.
