Extreme Makeover: Home Edition and Canadian Solar Bring Solar Power to Deserving Family in Southern Georgia
High-Quality Photovoltaic Panels Provide Clean, Renewable Power
ONTARIO, Canada, May 12 /PRNewswire-Asia-FirstCall/ -- Canadian Solar Inc. ("The Company," "Canadian Solar" or "we") (Nasdaq: CSIQ), a leading provider of solar modules and applications, has joined ABC's Emmy Award-winning program "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" (EMHE) to donate its high-performance photovoltaic solar panels to a family in Georgia. The modules will be part of EMHE's Project #723, which will be featured on Season 7, Show #723, airing Sunday, May 16, 2010 at 8:00 p.m. ET on ABC.
Canadian Solar has donated CS6P-230W polycrystalline solar modules, which offer superior quality at affordable prices; the modules received very high PV-USA (PTC) ratings, which are quickly becoming universally accepted standards for measuring real-world module power and performance. The system will produce an estimated 8.4MW annually, and will reduce monthly energy bills while minimizing the home's reliance on coal-generated electricity.
This EMHE project will benefit the Williams family of Pine Mountain, Ga. Just three years after his son Jacob was born with Spina bifida, Jeremy Williams, a local high school football coach, was diagnosed with Lou Gehrig's disease, also known as ALS. Despite numerous surgeries and setbacks over the years, the Williams family continues to be an inspiration to their community and to the wider EMHE audience.
"Canadian Solar is honored to be able to help improve the lives of such an uplifting, inspiring family, and to help them realize the benefits and cost savings of solar energy," said Mike Miskovsky, general manager, U.S. operations for Canadian Solar. "Canadian Solar has donated materials to other people in need as part of its corporate responsibility program, including survivors of the 2008 Sichuan earthquake in China. We are very happy to work with 'Extreme Makeover: Home Edition' to help the Williams family access clean, affordable, renewable power."
Extreme Makeover: Home Edition brings together communities across the U.S. to renovate and build incredible homes for deserving families that have experienced setbacks. The show is dedicated to using environmentally-friendly building materials, techniques and technologies such as solar power in their renovations.
The Canadian Solar panels were installed by the Company's integration partner, Atlantic Service & Supply, in cooperation with the EMHE building contractor, Nationwide Homes.
