It caps a truly extraordinary year of graduates from the seminary, the largest in recent memory, being ordained by their dioceses and religious orders. "It is a sign of hope for the Church," said Rev. Mosey. "We see the priesthood as a great gift to our country, not just for Catholics, but for Christians and all people of good will, as teachers of all that is good and right."
"We have been blessed to serve so many from such diverse global origins," Fr. Mosey went on to say. "Our seminarians this year are coming from 5 continents, so we have a microcosm of the universal Church here on campus which adds to the dynamism of college and seminary community."
"Particularly in the US, the laity is being raised up to serve on the front lines of the New Evangelization, and they are reliant on holy, well-formed priests to lead them," Rev. Mosey commented. "The primary work of the priests now is to give the laity an opportunity for a life changing encounter with the Person of Jesus Christ, to evangelize the evangelizers."
In addition to the seminary on campus, Holy Apostles also has its online undergraduate and pre-theology programs which serve the intellectual formation needs dioceses and religious communities globally, including countries with some of the most repressive regimes in the world. "It is a privilege to serve those needs as well as the mission that is so vital in those locations." Rev. Mosey said. "Those students are truly courageous in their commitment to Christ and His Church under such circumstances."
One of the things that is attracting dioceses and religious orders to the seminary, both on campus and online, is the tuition, which was recently reduced. "A debt-free graduate is a gift to society at large and to the Church," commented Dr. Sebastian Mahfood, OP, Vice President of Administration.
