For the past decade, Express Scripts has served the Department of Defense and the 9.7 million beneficiaries in its TRICARE® pharmacy program. During that time, the collaboration has led to best practices in improving utilization rates of lower-cost generic drugs, a significant increase in the use of home delivery, and driving healthier outcomes while achieving beneficiary satisfaction ratings as high as 98.3%.
In addition to continuing to serve the Department of Defense, Express Scripts will expand its pharmacy benefit management offering to other federal agencies.
"The federal sector is highly specialized, which is why it's even more important we bring our expertise and tailored programs to deliver the results required in this fiscally challenging environment," said Nancy Gilbride, Vice President and General Manager, Express Scripts. "We have a solid record of partnering with TRICARE and others to achieve their strategic goals with proven results in reducing pharmacy costs and increasing beneficiary satisfaction. Now, we're taking what we've learned and applying our expertise more broadly so that we can help lower costs, drive out waste and improve health outcomes for more federal employees and their families.
"We're proud to serve nearly 10 million service members, retirees and their families and we look forward to doing even more for federal beneficiaries who want to get the most out of their pharmacy benefit," added Gilbride.
