EXLTUBE Becomes Newest Member of the Steel Tube Institute; Cites STINA's Product and Marketing Work as Key Reason for Joining
CHICAGO, July 7, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Steel Tube Institute of North America (STINA) announced today that EXLTUBE has joined the Institute, effective immediately.
William A. Wolfe, executive director of STINA, welcomed EXLTUBE and emphasized that the Steel Tube Institute is the only organization that specifically focuses on the unique needs and interests of the steel tube and pipe industry in North America. "We're the only voice that speaks for our industry," he said.
John Simon, vice president of sales for EXLTUBE, said that one of the primary reasons that EXL was joining STINA was the product and marketing work the Institute does. "We will participate in both the HSS and Mechanical Tube Committees," he said. "All of the Institute's Committees work to grow our markets and the uses for our products, and that's a significant benefit for every member company."
Recently the Steel Tube Institute announced a major new initiative, the HSS Certified Producer Program, which is designed to assure designers, specifiers and users that HSS labeled with the Certified Producers' Mark, has been manufactured by producers who meet nationally recognized manufacturing standards, and who have passed the program's rigorous audits and product testing.
"EXLTUBE supports the Institute's HSS Certification Program," Mr. Simon said. "Users of our products deserve to have the utmost confidence in the high quality and integrity of the products they're buying."
EXLTUBE was founded in 1981. The company produces mechanical and structural tubing, and tested pipe. It operates as an independent company and is headquartered in North Kansas City, Missouri.
The Steel Tube Institute of North America was formed in 1930 when a group of manufacturers joined forces to promote and market steel tubing. Their goal was to mount a cooperative effort that would: improve manufacturing techniques and inform customers about their products' utility, versatility and competitive advantages. This, along with providing a forum for the discussion of issues impacting the industry, remains the basic motivation for the Institute's efforts.
STI's membership consists both of Active Members – producers of steel tube and pipe – and Associate Members – companies that supply raw materials, equipment and support services. Members obtain information about new products and production techniques; develop a rapport and exchange information with companies in the industry, and work to support and advance the steel tubing industry.
