Evince Productions & Create Entertainment Launch Independent Film, The Projectionist
First Ever Film to Launch via Kickstarter, Crowd-Funding Platform
NEW YORK, Feb. 26, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Evince Productions and Create Entertainment are thrilled to announce the launch of a 45-day exclusive Kickstarter limited release of the independent feature film, The Projectionist. The first film ever to use Kickstarter to launch, The Projectionist is a 99-minute psychological drama/thriller about a former soldier attempting to cope with undiagnosed PTSD. The film's cast includes Russ Russo, Natasha Alam (True Blood), Doug E. Doug (Cool Runnings, Shark Tale), Kiowa Gordon (The Twilight Saga, The Red Road), Joseph R. Gannascoli (Sopranos, Men in Black 3), Robert Miano (Donnie Brasco), Dominik Tiefenthaler (Maybe Tomorrow) and Chris LaPanta (The Blacklist).
Heralded by IndieWIRE, Bloomberg Television, The Producers Guild of America, & BusinessWeek, the film will be available on DVD, Blu-Ray, and HD Digital Download to supporters upon successfully raising $10,000 [MSRP $30 Blu-ray, $20 DVD, $10 Digital Download] through the crowd-funding platform. Backers will be given access to the film the same day they contribute via a High Definition Digital Download, rewarding them with an instant incentive.
Following a successful Kickstarter exclusive limited release campaign, The Projectionist, will launch a limited US theatrical release across major cities starting in New York and Los Angeles. The film will then be made available to viewers around the world through video-on-demand (VOD) and other prominent streaming platforms such as Netflix, Amazon, and iTunes later this year, all of which will be made possible with the backing of the Kickstarter community. In addition, the film is being made available to veterans and active duty service men & women across the world for the discounted price of $1.
Film Threat Magazine says, "The fuel to this bold concept comes from three astonishing performances. As Jacob, Russ Russo offers a heartbreaking interpretation of a warrior reduced to a shadow. While his lean and muscular body might suggest a readiness for battle, he is unable to maintain a conquering soldier's strut – instead, his hunched posture and Chaplinesque shuffle offer testimony to a broken spirit."
The filmmakers plan to work alongside various veteran and mental health groups (i.e. Wounded Warrior Project & Real Warriors Campaign) to not only promote the film, but also to raise awareness regarding the major issue surrounding the story and central character, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

Kennedy; Producer: Atit Shah; Executive Producers: Saagar Govil and Hersh Narola; Director of Photography: Nicolas Canton; Production Design: Bobby Dancy; Editor: Nina S.
