Everything.me: Reinventing Mobile Search with "Everything about Anything"
Strategic Investment Led By Horizons Ventures as Everything.me (formally DoAT) Prepares for Launch
SAN FRANCISCO, March 30, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Everything.me™ today announced an additional $3.5 Million strategic financing led by Hong Kong-based Horizons Ventures, galvanizing the start-up's drive towards an entirely new paradigm in mobile search. This latest funding joins previous rounds from Draper Fisher Jurvetson, BRM Group and DFJTFV bringing the total invested to $12.5 Million.
Everything.me Co-Founder and CEO Rami Kasterstein said the Horizons Ventures investment signals confirmation of the company's direction. "Horizons Ventures' deep focus in emerging internet technologies and investments in companies like SIRI, Facebook and Spotify make them the perfect complement to our great team of investors. We look forward to working with Horizons to leverage their valuable insights and networks."
Launched in May 2010, Everything.me released its proof-of-concept under the name DoAT in May 2011 at TechCrunch Disrupt in NYC. After several months of testing and gathering real-world user input, the company is getting ready to launch its new mobile search app. The app, called Everything.me, fundamentally changes the mobile search experience by replacing traditional link-based search results with instant, mobile-optimized access to "Everything about Anything."
"We believe the market is ripe for disruption in mobile search and that a groundbreaking approach is needed to force this disruption," said Jason Wong, Director at Horizons Ventures. "We have made this strategic investment because we believe Everything.me is the mobile search for the smartphone age."
The beta of Everything.me was released to the public in Q1 2012 as a mobile web HTML5 version, allowing both iPhone and Android users a chance to use the product. The company is developing native versions for iOS, Android and Windows Phone devices that will be released in the coming months.
