Every Step Counts Launches One Million Feet Forward

WASHINGTON, May 11 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Statistics show that violence against women and children is at an all-time high. Experts say that awareness is the first step in bringing an end to violence against women and children. To support that effort, Every Step Counts (EstepCo) is launching the national One Million Feet Forward to End Violence Against Women and Children campaign.

To support the cause, the public is asked to make a $5 donation, which will go to support violence prevention and intervention programs across the country. In exchange, donors will receive a pair of awareness socks and the satisfaction of knowing they have joined together with a nationwide campaign calling for an end to violence against women and children.

To initiate prevention at the youth level, EstepCo has partnered with several youth programs and middle schools, including Brittany Woods Middle School located in University City, MO.

"The only way to truly fight the battle against violence against women and children is to teach students, both male and female, to recognize what domestic violence is, how to express when they have been violated about it, and instill them with self-esteem to stand up for their own right to have safe and healthy relationships," said Brittany Woods Principal Jamie Jordan, Ed.D.
