Evana Automation Ships Two Lean Assembly Cells to a Leading Automotive Electronics Manufacturer
The innovative solution, which includes subassembly stations, provides balanced operator workload, efficient ergonomics, and full product traceability
EVANSVILLE, Ind., June 16, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Evana Automation Specialists, a leading Systems Integrator and builder of custom, automated assembly and test systems, recently shipped two lean assembly cells to a leading automotive electronics manufacturer. The innovative solution, which includes subassembly stations, provides balanced operator workload, efficient ergonomics, and full product traceability.
During this process, an operator prints and applies a label to the product housing for traceability purposes. A printed circuit board (PCB) is then placed on the housing and scanned (for PCB serial number) so that it can be tied to the barcode label. Next, the PCB is secured to the housing with a DC screwdriver, where torque data is collected and tied to the barcode. The next step requires the backings of thermal pads to be removed, and then verified that they were removed. At the next station, a ribbon connector is installed to attach to the lid PCB, and similar operations are performed to the lid side. Once complete, the unit is checked and packed out.
"Due to the lower volumes, a lean-based assembly solution was the ideal fit," said Randy Wire, general manager of Evana Automation Specialists. "The solution also provides effective quality control measurement."
