EU@SXSW offers interactive panel discussions, film presentations, and technology demonstrations from some of Europe's hottest start-ups. Visitors can also relax and mingle over European coffee and pastries on the EU@SXSW networking lawn.
The EU's Ambassador to the U.S., David O'Sullivan, will speak about 'EU's Digital Single Market: Breaking Down Barriers' during a panel discussion on March 11 at 12:30 pm, and later that evening will host the official EU@SXSW kick-off reception.
"South by Southwest is a unique opportunity for us to showcase Europe's cutting-edge technologies and innovation. And we get to tell the story to key American stakeholders of how and why EU's digital and cultural economies thrive at the moment," said Ambassador O'Sullivan.
EU@SXSW will be open from March 11-13 at the 'Palm Door on 6th' (508 East 6th St) in downtown Austin. The EU venue is open to SXSW badge holders and a limited number of non-credentialed participants.

Background Information
South by Southwest (SXSW) is the leading conference and festival in the United States devoted to the convergence of the music, film, and digital industries. Given the sustained attendance of digital industry and policy officials, the EU Delegation identified SXSW as an ideal venue to constructively and positively engage stakeholders on issues of importance to the EU, such as the Digital Single Market initiative, and foster closer transatlantic collaboration.
Although this is the EU's first official presence, Europe itself is not new to SXSW. In 2016, SXSW saw nearly 5,000 registrants from across Europe, and 11 EU Member States took booth space on the interactive trade show floor. The EU Delegation intends to support and amplify the broader European presence, working closely with EU Member States to offer EU@SXSW as a platform. Accordingly, the EU@SXSW website includes a 'More from Europe' page listing European activities at SXSW.
