EU-China Business and Technology Cooperation Fair VI
CHENGDU, China, Oct. 19, 2011 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- As one of the most essential components of the 12th Western China International Fair (WCIF), the EU-China Business and Technology Cooperation Fair VI is scheduled on 18-22 October in Chengdu Hi-Tech Zone, Sichuan Province, southwestern China. The fair is hosted by the Ministry of Commerce of China, China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, and the Sichuan Provincial Government; supported by EU Commission and Official partners from EU member states; sponsored by the Chengdu Municipal Government and the Department of Commerce of Sichuan Province; assisted by the Chengdu Bureau of Exposition, Chengdu Municipal Bureau of Commerce, and Chengdu Hi-Tech Zone Management Committee, and organized by EU Project Innovation Centre (Chengdu). The European delegation led by Philippe Vialatte, head of Science, Technology and Environment Section, will attend meetings, engaging in official conversations with the Chinese governmental representatives. About 600 European and Chinese enterprises are anticipated to join the events of the fair.
Witnessing the implication of the sixth year, the fair has never taken a hesitant step in serving as a significant channel of the trade and economic relations between China and EU, especially providing abundant business opportunities for both the opening-up western China market and European countries. The EU-China Business and Technology Cooperation Fair VI raises an essential theme of "Communication & Cooperation, Innovation and Development", focusing on the ongoing investment in traditional industries and the new cooperation in technology innovation and transfer and referencing spheres of bio-pharmaceuticals, new energy & environment, ICT industry and so on.
Three related events are highlighted in the fair this year, namely the China-EU Technology Transfer and Innovation Cooperation Forum, the Inauguration of the Enterprise Europe Network (EEN) West China, and the EU-western China Cooperation & Development Forum, which tend to continuously construct the supportive platform and to bridge the western Chinese market with the European enterprises in a wide range of economic spheres from the Cleantech innovation to the SMEs business. Noticeably, approved by the DG Enterprise of European Commission and implemented by EU Project Innovation Center (EUPIC), "EEN West China" will play a key role in building a platform for information-sharing and collaboration between SMEs from China and Europe. The function of "EEN West China" covers ten provinces including Sichuan, Chongqing, Yunnan, Guizhou, Xinjiang, Tibet, Qinghai, Gansu, Ningxia, and Shaanxi, which will also help the local western Chinese SMEs develop the capabilities, expand the market, attract investment and talents, facilitate R&D of new products, and enhance the interaction between enterprises and governments.
As a matter of fact, under the atmosphere of the global financial shrink, both Chinese enterprisers and European investors are experiencing difficult times. New opportunities are considerably necessary for both. The Chinese companies now confront a great need of industry upgrading, which requires the frontier technologies through the deeper collaboration with the European partners. Technology cooperation and transfer, thus has become a major trend. Early this month, Sichuan technology enterprises grouped a warm-up visit to their counterparts in France, Belgium and other European countries for the very first time, in which the meetings of constructing EU-China business channels and the business partner matchmaking were successfully held. Not surprising to say, a great expectation with a deeper and closer conversation between Chinese hi-tech enterprisers and European investors is attached to the fair. The EU-China Business and Technology Cooperation Fair VI and its following efforts are expected to afford a more effective, more practical and more professional platform to guarantee the technology cooperation to be a long-term win-win partnership for China and the EU, while benefiting Chengdu, the major second-tier city of China, to become a base of "World Innovation and Investment Promotion Center" in western China within the internationalizing of Sichuan province.
