Epic Health Services Grows its Continuum of Care with Acquisition of Care Resources
DALLAS, May 2, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Epic Health Services Inc., a portfolio company of Webster Capital and Dallas-based provider of pediatric skilled nursing, therapy, developmental and enteral services, announced today that it has acquired Baltimore-based Care Resources. Previously owned by ResCare, Care Resources offers pediatric therapy and early intervention services for children with special needs, staffing of special education teachers and nurses to schools, and continuing education courses for health care professionals.
"As Epic moves forward on our mission to provide the best and most comprehensive continuum of care to pediatric patients, joining forces with companies like Care Resources makes good clinical and business sense because their robust programs will strengthen our existing service lines," said Chris Roussos, Epic president and CEO. "Additionally, the company's dedication to outstanding care resonated with us, and we knew we had found a good fit."
Care Resources will be rebranded to Epic Developmental Services (EDS), a division of Epic Health Services, growing its patient base from Maryland to five additional states: New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Texas and Virginia. Epic currently operates in 17 states.
"We're looking forward to working with the seasoned educational consultants and therapists that have made Care Resources such a respected company," said Kathleen Bailey Stengel, vice president of EDS. "Moving forward over time, we plan to expand the services offered by EDS into the other 11 states where Epic provides pediatric and adult home health services."
The management team, therapists and educational professionals at Care Resources are expected to remain in place and will work in tandem with other Epic teams in the area to truly provide patients with access to the best pediatric care continuum available.
"Both Epic and Care Resources emphasize the values of high-quality services and evidence-based practices," said Suzanne Wayson, executive director of Care Resources. "Now, as a part of Epic, we'll be able to better serve those around the country who require effective special education services."
About Care Resources
Care Resources, established in 1984, began as a private practice providing physical, occupational and speech language therapy to children with disabilities. Additionally, Care Resources also provides school nurses to schools and community health programs.
Care Resources is distinguished by responsiveness and creativity in meeting the needs of our customers. We offer outcome and research-based solutions using best practice standards, current technology and an individualized approach. Our highly qualified staff are advocates for the well-being of children with special needs.
