LENOIR CITY, Tenn., March 4 /PRNewswire/ -- EOD Technology, Inc. The Tonopah Test Range, located midway between the cities of Las Vegas and Reno in south-central Nevada, was used by the U.S. Department of Energy to conduct historic non-nuclear yield testing of weapon systems, research rockets, and artillery. As a result, the area is currently contaminated by unexploded ordnance, radioactive constituents, and other hazardous materials.
"As a Department of Defense site, the Tonopah Test Range also serves as a specialized Department of Energy testing site, and EODT is qualified and prepared to operate in this unique environment," said Matt Kaye, EODT president and CEO. "Our extensive past experience is supported by an outstanding safety record, so we are confident we will complete this project safely and successfully."
The contract, valued at $800,000, is in support of the Navarro Nevada Environmental Services contract with the U.S. Department of Energy, National Nuclear Security Administration Nevada Site Office. Funding for the project is provided under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, the recent act signed into law by President Obama to revitalize the economy.
