Entrust Customer, Partner Win European Security Award with Strong Authentication Solution
KVB wins 'Best Project B2C' category in European Identity Awards utilizing Entrust IdentityGuard
DALLAS, June 2 /PRNewswire/ -- The Entrust, Inc., versatile authentication platform has been honored by one of Europe's most prestigious analyst groups. Kuppinger Cole, a leading analyst firm for identity-focused information security, awarded Entrust customer Kassenarztliche Vereinigung Bayerns (KVB) with the "Best Project B2C" accolade at the European Identity Award 2010 in Munich, Germany, in May for their smart use of Entrust IdentityGuard in a large consumer environment.
"We're extremely proud to be a part of KVB's accomplishment in securing online consumers' access to sensitive, privileged information," said Entrust President and CEO Bill Conner. "This award is a testament to their dedication of delivering a cost-effective, transparent strong authentication solution with little hindrance to the end-user."
Facilitated and deployed by Entrust partner Devoteam Germany, KVB used Entrust IdentityGuard — branded KV-Ident — for strong portal authentication for KVB members. The KV-Ident solution is designed to authenticate more than 24,000 members and provide fast, easy-to-use and secure access to all KVB online applications. Within weeks of its launch, more than 5,000 members registered for the service, which also helped the organization comply with various healthcare industry mandates. KVB represents the association of statutory health insurance physicians in the German state of Bavaria.
Each enrolled KVB member receives the KV-Ident Grid Card — a simple, efficient credit card-sized authenticator. The card is encoded with a series of numbers and letters and, in combination with a valid KVB user ID, enables secure access to the company's online services and resources.
Vendors, system houses, consultants and enterprise users were asked to submit suggestions for the award. The shortlist included projects and initiatives that have come to the attention of Kuppinger Cole analysts over the course of the last 12 months. KVB shared the honor with the University of Washington and the Catholic University of Leuven (K.U.L.) in Belgium.
Entrust IdentityGuard enables organizations to layer security — according to access requirements or the risk of a given transaction — across diverse users and applications. Entrust's authentication capabilities include username and password, IP-geolocation, device, questions and answers, out-of-band one-time passcode (delivered via voice, SMS or e-mail), grid and eGrid cards, digital certificates (in software or on smart cards/USB tokens) and a range of one-time-passcode tokens, including Entrust IdentityGuard Mobile.
