Enthought, Inc. Announces Relocated Scientific Computing Conference to Austin, Draws Record Attendance
AUSTIN, Texas, June 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Austin-based Enthought, Inc. is pleased to announce record attendance for its 2010 Scientific Computing with Python Conference (SciPy) being held June 28th through July 3rd in Austin. From its inception in 2002, the SciPy Conference has been held on the campus of the California Institute of Technology (Caltech), and this is its first year in Austin.
Commenting on the conference, Dr. Eric Jones, CEO of Enthought, said, "We are very pleased to be holding the event in our home town and delighted with the record attendance for this week's conference. Leading academics and developers are here to participate in intensive instructional tutorials and to share their latest projects. The final two days of the meeting are devoted to code sprints when attendees gather to work collaboratively on open-source projects to improve the Python programming language toolsets.
SciPy attendees come from far and wide, including North America, Columbia, Spain, South Africa, Turkey, Germany, Norway, Italy, Singapore and Great Britain. Specialized tracks for this year's conference include Python for Bioinformatics as well as Parallel Processing and Cloud Computing with Python.
Enthought, Dell, Microsoft, D.E. Shaw & Co., AQR Financial Management, the Python Software Foundation, and one anonymous donor, have provided funding for 14 students to travel and attend SciPy 2010.
