NEW YORK, Jan. 27, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Entertainment Benefits Group (EBG) will join forces with Project: Time Off on Tuesday, Jan. 31 for the first National Plan for Vacation Day – a call to action for Americans to get a jumpstart on planning their vacation. As the largest corporate travel and entertainment benefits program in the U.S., EBG will support the initiative by providing employers and their employees access to exclusive offers on thousands of premier travel and entertainment experiences through its Corporate Programs Division–TicketsatWork, Plum Benefits and Working Advantage.
"EBG's mission is to bring fun and happiness to people's lives by providing employees nationwide direct access to special offers on top travel and entertainment products across the country," said Brett Reizen, President and CEO of EBG. "Living in a work-driven culture where vacation and time off is essential, we embraced the chance to support Project: Time Off. It was a natural fit given the synergy of our business goals – to foster work-life balance, boost employee happiness and increase productivity in the workplace."
Project: Time Off research revealed that the vast majority of managers (89 percent) agree that employees return to work after vacation with greater focus and creativity. Even so, more than half (55 percent) of Americans do not use all the time off they earn – leading to 658 million unused vacation days each year. And less than half (49 percent) of the households surveyed set aside time to plan their vacations, which is the most critical factor when it comes to employees actually taking their earned time off and reaping its full benefits.
"America's unused vacation fundamentally hurts the performance of workers and the vibrancy of businesses," said Gary Oster, Managing Director of Project: Time Off. "Our focus is to lead a movement that transforms America's attitudes and behavior about vacation time, and EBG's powerful network of over 40,000 human resources professionals and 50 million employees will be integral to real change."
Research shows that not only are planners more likely to take all their vacation days – benefiting their health and career – but they also take longer breaks compared to non-planners. For travelers, the time spent planning can also help get the best deals, putting money back in their pockets.
Charles Flateman, U.S. Travel Association board member, Senior VP of Marketing at The Shubert Organization and board member of EBG's Corporate Programs Division, commented on the benefits of the partnership adding: "The collaboration between Project: Time Off and EBG highlights the industry's shared mission: to promote travel to those who benefit most – increasing the health of our workforce and stimulating the economy."
