BEDFORD, Mass., July 6, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- EnterpriseDB® (EDB™), the leading enterprise Postgres database company, today announced that Ed Boyajian, President and CEO, will be a featured speaker during Database Camp on July 10, 2016, at the United Nations in New York City. Database Camp is part of the 'Open Camps @ UN 2016 Conference', a series of events on open source software that the United Nations is staging through July.
Boyajian's presentation, titled, "How To Create Business Advantage Using Postgres Ecosystems," will take place on Sunday, July 10, at 1 pm at United Nations Headquarters. The presentation explores how EDB Postgres supports new deployment models and cross-platform database integration patterns that help organizations transform their data center into innovation platforms that better support mobile, web, cloud, Internet of Things, social, and other digital business initiatives.
Database Camp is an important element of Open Camps, produced by the United Nations Open Source Innovation Initiative (Unite Open Source). It is an annual event series on technology that brings together as many as 6,000 developers and database administrators from open source communities, private companies, and academia worldwide. Attendees participated in over 25 conferences and events that feature more than 400 sessions on dozens of open source technologies. The events support Unite Open Source's mission to strengthen open source communities, encourage partnerships, and function as a center of excellence in open source knowledge.
In keeping with the philanthropic mission of Open Camps, this year's Database Camp participants, including EDB, donated to a charity sponsored by Database Camp. The charity, Techie Youth, a technology education and career training organization for young people in foster care, has about 200 members in the program preparing to graduate and take on technology-related jobs in August. Separately, EDB's Boyajian and Eric David Benari, Founder and President of Techie Youth, will complement the dialogue on open source by participating in an event co-hosted by MIT Technology Review on Tuesday, July 12. The roundtable event is part of the free Vision Talks series, which explores how open source software is helping organizations transform their infrastructures.
