Energy Plus Ranked Number Five on Philadelphia's Top Workplaces 2012
Fast-Growing Energy Company Recognized by Philadelphia Inquirer, Daily News, and Philly.com as Fifth Best Midsize Employer, Based On Employee Feedback
PHILADELPHIA, March 27, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Energy Plus Holdings, one of the nation's fastest-growing energy companies, today announced that it has been ranked as the fifth midsize company on Top Workplaces 2012, an extensive effort to uncover the best employers in the Philadelphia region, from the perspective of the employees. Spearheaded by the Philadelphia Inquirer, Daily News and Philly.com, the annual list recognizes 100 employers in the region, with rankings determined by employee survey responses.
In 2011, Energy Plus earned the top position in the Top Workplaces small companies list, making this the second consecutive year Energy Plus has been featured on the list. Substantial company growth in customers and markets as well as an increase in the number of employees, led to an acquisition by NRG Energy in September, moving Energy Plus to the midsize company list for 2012. Energy Plus continues to expand its number of employees; the company currently employs 164 and has plans to hire an additional 50 employees in 2012.
"We are very excited to have earned such a high ranking on the Top Workplaces list for our second year," said Kevin Kleinschmidt, President of Energy Plus. "Our dedication to our employees has remained steady as we have grown in size and completed an acquisition by NRG Energy in September. Our ranking on the Top Workplaces survey reaffirms our high employee satisfaction."
Founded in Philadelphia in 2007, Energy Plus is now one of the region's fastest-growing companies, serving over 185,000 customers in eight states. Energy Plus' ranks have grown to 164 employees, the majority of whom are based in the Company's headquarters, which is located in the University City Science Center and includes a dedicated customer call center.
In order to compile Top Workplaces 2012, the Philadelphia Inquirer, Daily News and Philly.com enlisted WorkplaceDynamics for a third year to ask employees around the region to rate their bosses and companies. Employees were asked to rate their companies in six areas: direction, execution, career, conditions, managers, and pay and benefits.
Energy Plus is fast becoming the energy company of choice for homes and small businesses in states that allow electricity and natural gas competition. The company is the only electricity and natural gas company to enroll each of its customers in an ongoing, customized rewards program. Energy Plus also provides superior, risk-free service and certified green energy options unavailable from local utility companies or other independent energy suppliers.
