The Endicott programs achieved accredited status following an intensive process that included completion of a candidacy program, completion and review of an institutional self-study, site visit by accreditation team, final approval by the COSMA Board of Commissioners and submission of annual reports. The organization determined that Endicott should receive recognition for a seven-year period, through February 2022.
Dr. Deborah Swanton, Dean of the School of Sport Science, said: "Our Sport Management Program was one of the first in New England to be approved by NASSM/NASPE in 1999 before moving to the new model of accreditation. To have both the undergraduate and graduate programs awarded maximum accreditation is a tribute to the students, faculty and staff. We are excited to see both programs continue to move from strength to strength and it is extremely rewarding to see the incredible success of our students."
There are over 200 students currently in the Endicott undergraduate Sport Management program, and about 60 in the M.Ed. program.
COSMA is a specialized accrediting body whose purpose is to promote and recognize excellence in sport management education worldwide in colleges and universities at the baccalaureate and graduate levels through specialized accreditation. COSMA is the only organization offering discipline-specific accreditation in sport management.
