Joseph T. Sefcik, Jr., to Receive Honor from Florida Southern College for Pioneering Career and Outstanding Community Service
WINTER PARK, Fla., March 6, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Employment Technologies Corporation is pleased to announce that president Joseph Sefcik, Jr., will be receiving the 2013 Distinguished Alumni Achievement Award from Florida Southern College (FSC) during their Founders Day Convocation on Friday, March 8th. Each year, FSC honors distinguished alumni, recognizing their "exceptional professional achievement, civic leadership, and a commitment to the highest ethical standards."
The Alumni Achievement Award is one of the highest honors bestowed by FSC. "I am deeply honored and grateful to receive this recognition from my alma mater," explains Sefcik. "It is a privilege to even be considered, and I regard this honor as one of my proudest accomplishments."
Sefcik earned his Bachelor of Science degree in psychology from FSC in 1976 and went on to earn his Master of Science degree in industrial/organization psychology from the University of Central Florida. A pioneer in simulation-based employment testing, Sefcik founded Employment Technologies Corporation (ETC) in 1995. Under his leadership, ETC revolutionized the hiring process for companies worldwide by replacing traditional text-based employment tests with highly realistic, interactive simulations.
This award marks the second time Sefcik has been honored for his pioneering work, having also received the distinguished 2005 Professional Achievement Award as the outstanding alumnus from the UCF College of Sciences.
Previous FSC Achievement Award recipients include: Lamar Louise Curry ('27), a Miami educator whose long list of influential students include former Florida governor and U.S. Senator Bob Graham and television icon Desi Arnaz; Lisa Kaiser Hickey ('79), distinguished entrepreneur and advocate for women business owners; and Robert "Bob" Gordon Black ('51), esteemed journalist, writer and professor.
This year's Alumni Achievement Award ceremony will be held on Friday, March 8th at 11:00 a.m. at FSCs Branscomb Auditorium. The ceremony will also include His Excellency Ramon Gil-Casares, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Spain, who will serve as an Honorary Chancellor in celebration of the 500th Anniversary of the arrival of Spanish explorers in Florida.
