DOWNERS GROVE, Ill., June 11, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- An examination of employers' views of IT certifications along with practical advice for IT workers on how to make their credentials stand out are the topics for the next CompTIA IT Professional Webinar Series, presented by CompTIA, the IT industry trade association.
"Five Reasons Why Employers Look for IT Certifications" is scheduled for Tuesday, June 23 at 11 a.m. CDT. To register for the free webinar, visit http://www.comptia.org/events/view/5-reasons-why-employers-look-for-it-certifications.
As the demand for IT workers continues to grow – there are upwards of 850,000 core IT job openings in the U.S. alone[1] – more and more employers are turning to certifications to help identify the right candidates. The webinar will explore why certifications are gaining in importance with employers.
Scheduled speakers include Angel Pineiro, senior vice president, ASI System Integration, Inc.; Steven Gilman, senior systems engineer, SW@4 Security; Patrick Lane, senior manager, product management, CompTIA; and Amy Carrado, director, research and market intelligence, CompTIA.
"HR professionals believe having IT job candidates with industry certifications saves time and resources in evaluating applicants, ensures a candidate's credibility and demonstrates that they have a baseline set of knowledge," Carrado noted.
She cited the March 2015 CompTIA study HR Perceptions of IT Training and Certification, which revealed that two-thirds of HR executives surveyed said IT certifications are very valuable and 94 percent expect the importance of IT certifications to grow over the next two years.
"Once hired, certified IT professionals get up to speed more quickly; are more likely to stay with the organization long term; have a higher likelihood of being promoted; and generally perform better than non-certified IT staff," she added.
Job Search Tips
Webinar speakers will also answer some of the most common job search-related questions asked by IT professionals, including:
- What qualifications do I need to get an IT job?
- What will get me noticed by employers?
- How do I get my résumé to stand out from the crowd?
