Employees Want Direct Access to Pay and Benefits Information
SAN ANTONIO, Sept. 24, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Employees desire a quick way to access their pay and benefits information, according to results from the 2015 "Getting Paid In America" survey conducted by the American Payroll Association. Technologies such as employee self-service portals give workers the option to access their pay and benefits information almost anywhere they have Internet access.
"Empowering employees with direct access to their pay and benefits information online and through mobile is now a necessity," says Shelley Ng, vice president of product management at Ceridian.
The annual "Getting Paid In America" survey asked respondents "Does your employer provide an employee self-service portal, where you can access your pay and benefits information online?" Nearly 82 percent of respondents indicated that their employer provides them with a self-service portal. In addition, over 28 percent answered that they prefer to access their self-service portal on a mobile device such as a laptop computer, tablet or smart phone.
"The NPW survey validates the employee expectations we see in the payroll and HR technology industry. People expect the ability to access and manage their pay, benefits, retirement information, and more—at any time and from any device," said Scott Scherr, President, CEO, and Founder of Ultimate Software.
The payroll industry serves these employee expectations, while keeping costs lower for American business and easing compliance with complex federal and state regulations like the Affordable Care Act (ACA).
"With a single, real-time, human capital management application that offers direct access to key employee work and life information, administrative processing costs are reduced; organizational compliance is improved and employee engagement becomes easier," says Ceridian's Ng.
The "Getting Paid In America" survey was held in conjunction with APA's annual public awareness campaign, National Payroll Week (NPW). Over 34,800 employees responded to the survey, providing insight into how workers are paid in America. For complete results, visit www.nationalpayrollweek.com.
