"Family Day Series" are fun-filled days featuring various kinds of recreation and entertainment, health screening, education and access to a variety of resources from government agencies.
The first event, with close to 300 participants in attendance, took place on July 16, 2011 at Queens' St. Albans Park.
Representatives from local Emigrant Bank branches were on-hand and provided informational material on mortgages, small business funding and other bank services. In his remarks, Councilman Comrie thanked Emigrant for its long-standing commitment to its local communities.
Emigrant's participation in the "Family Day Series" follows its successful sponsorship of NHS's "Housing Expo & Financial Fitness Day 2011," which took place at Queens College on June 11, 2011. The Housing Expo presented seminars and information for home buyers, including information about grants and mortgage products, first-time homebuyer education, information on down payment and closing cost assistance programs, and access to more than 50 housing experts.

We look forward to working with Neighborhood Housing Services on similar efforts throughout the borough in the weeks and months to come."

About Emigrant Bank
Founded in 1850 to serve the financial need of a growing America and a dynamic emigrant population, Emigrant Bank has served generations of new Americans who came to America to seek a "better way of life" for themselves and their families. In keeping with our core mission, Emigrant's branch-based giving was built upon a similar foundation of helping to sustain and improve the communities where we provide retail banking services.
Emigrant's branch-based contribution program supports local community initiatives that sustain and enhance the vibrancy of the neighborhoods where we provide retail banking services. The regional focus of our savings banks allows us to identify needs where our financial support can build on the successes of non-profit organizations in our mutual service areas. At each of Emigrant's regional banks, consideration is provided for contribution requests addressing five primary issues: education/youth initiatives, health/social services, cultural programs, faith-based programs, and community development.
