Philip O'Brien to Provide Strategic Leadership on External Relations
WASHINGTON, June 17 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation is pleased to announce that Philip O'Brien will be joining its senior leadership team as of October 1st as the Executive Vice President of Communications, Advocacy and Development. This new and critically important position will provide strategic leadership around the Foundation's global advocacy, communications, marketing and resource development priorities.

O'Brien has been working on behalf of children, women and families in the developing world for more than 35 years, and brings a wealth of experience that will not only strengthen the Foundation's existing efforts, but also provide a vision to its external initiatives.

O'Brien currently serves as the Director of Private Fundraising and Partnerships with UNICEF, supporting their advocacy and funding work through 36 national independent affiliates, which together, provide more than $900 million from private sources for UNICEF's global work. O'Brien provides guidance and support in areas of fundraising, child rights advocacy, governance, communications, and brand building. Some of O'Brien's additional positions with UNICEF have included Chief of Health and Nutrition, Bangladesh; Chief of Operations and UN Humanitarian Coordinator, Operation Lifeline, Sudan; Regional Director, Central and Eastern Europe, Commonwealth of Independent States and the Baltic States; and Director, Regional Office for Europe. O'Brien also spent nearly 15 years with Concern Worldwide, working in Bangladesh, Yemen, and Tanzania. He is a native of Ireland.
O'Brien will be based in Geneva, Switzerland, with frequent visits to the United States and the Foundation's program sites throughout Africa.
