Elektrobit (EB) expands horizons of automotive innovation at CES
Company announces Innovation Lab in Silicon Valley, showcases latest software for connected and autonomous driving, hosts motorsports enthusiast-actress Tricia Helfer
LAS VEGAS, Jan. 5, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- (CES 2015, North Hall Booth #2107) -- At CES 2015, Elektrobit (EB)—whose human-machine interface (HMI), navigation, driver assistance and electronic control unit software powers more than 75 million vehicles worldwide—is focusing on accelerating automotive software innovation with the announcement of its Silicon Valley Innovation Lab and demonstrations of its latest automotive software at the EB booth, in a technology concept car and reference vehicle with partner QNX Software Systems, as well as with automakers and partners throughout the CES show floor.
In addition, the company will be joined by motorsports enthusiast and acclaimed actress Tricia Helfer on Thursday, January 8 to discuss the "Future of Mobility" with Ford and EB executives at the Ford Broadcast Stage. The conversation will encompass the latest trends including the extension of consumer technologies into cars and motorcycles, head-up displays, and the increasingly important role played by navigation and driver assistance technologies in motor vehicles of all kinds. Helfer, known for her roles in futuristic TV shows such as Syfy's "Battlestar Galactica" and her new role on "Ascension," is especially curious as to how these technologies will factor into the highly automated and self-driving vehicles of the future.
At its booth (North Hall #2107), EB will demonstrate its software as implemented in two current-model vehicles: the 2015 Mercedes-Benz E400, equipped with advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) software developed by EB, and the 2015 Volkswagen E-Golf with EB street director navigation software and EB GUIDE HMI software, as well as multiple EB tresos basic software and Functional Safety components that enable core automotive control unit functions.
At the QNX Software Systems booth (North Hall #2231), EB and the automotive OS leader and Blackberry subsidiary, QNX Software Systems, will showcase a vision for safe and comfortable driving in two state-of-the-art demonstration vehicles that integrate the latest in EB's ADAS technologies and give CES attendees a unique opportunity to "test-drive" the automated safety and security features available in next-generation cars. Both the sleek, technology concept car based on a modified 2015 Maserati Quattroporte and the reference vehicle based on a modified Jeep Wrangler are equipped with EB street director navigation software and the latest version of EB Assist ADASISv2S Electronic Horizon Solution with new roadsign-detection functionality.
The EB Silicon Valley Innovation Lab—expected to open in January 2015—will focus on research and development associated with furthering EB's software solutions toward connected and autonomous driving. EB will build a team of engineers dedicated to working with emerging technologies and involved in research and pre-development activities with EB customers located in the Silicon Valley.
