Elekta Impac Software to Demonstrate Oncology EHR Capabilities at Electronic Health Records Lab in Chicago
ASCO attendees invited to learn how MOSAIQ electronic health record can help reduce costs, enhance efficiency and achieve meaningful use
ATLANTA and CHICAGO, June 1 /PRNewswire/ -- For the fourth consecutive year, Elekta Impac Software has been selected to demonstrate at the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Electronic Health Records (EHR) Lab, June 5-7, at McCormick Place in Chicago. Elekta will present its oncology information management solutions and provide insight on how health care centers can comply with new federal criteria on the adoption and use of EHRs.
Elekta is among 11 providers chosen to present at the EHR Lab, a forum for ASCO members to discover the latest EHR technology. This year, providers will demonstrate how their solutions can:
- Comply with meaningful use measures as outlined under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA)
- Select patients that meet ASCO's Quality Oncology Practice Initiative (QOPI®) case selection methodology
- Apply measures that focus on clinical decision support
- Generate a treatment plan and summary
During the Lab, Elekta will provide hands-on demonstrations of MOSAIQ®, its EHR designed for use in medical oncology and radiation oncology environments. MOSAIQ has helped large and small practices worldwide reduce costs, enhance efficiency and strengthen business performance.
"MOSAIQ is a comprehensive, integrated EHR that we have implemented in hundreds of hospitals and clinics," says Donna Getreuer, Director of Medical Oncology Business Marketing for Elekta. "We intend to show how MOSAIQ is the optimal solution to create a seamless oncology information infrastructure, and also how Elekta, as a stable provider with a long history in information management -- can guide users on ways they can qualify for government monies when they implement an EHR."
As part of the economic stimulus bill, the federal government allocated $19.2 billion dollars in incentives to encourage the adoption of EHRs among physicians and hospitals. This portion of this bill is entitled the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health Act, or HITECH Act, and strongly encourages the health care industry to go paperless by 2015.
