Electric Vehicles (EV) Grid Summit Drives GridWeek 2010 Roadmap on the Smart Grid and Sustainable Energy
WASHINGTON, Sept. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Mapping ways to connect consumers and the next generation of electric vehicles (EV) to the Smart Grid is the focus of an EV Grid Summit hosted at GridWeek 2010. The day-long summit, held on October 21 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington D.C., features several sessions exploring issues from engaging consumers to creating an EV recharging infrastructure.
"When we consider the game-changing impact that the Smart Grid will have for consumers, industry and our national energy policy, it may be the role of the Smart Grid in enabling electric vehicles that generates the most interest and potential," said Anto Budiardjo, president of Clasma Events.
The EV segment of the automotive market is expanding rapidly and driving new opportunities for both Smart Grid technologies and related infrastructure requirements. For example, Pike Research, one of the companies participating in the EV Summit, predicts that there will be some 4.7 million new electric vehicle recharging stations in place worldwide by 2015, generating an estimated $1.5 billion in revenue.
The EV Summit, part of the four-day GridWeek 2010 Conference held from October 18-21, will feature three sessions on: "EV and Consumers," "EVs and the Charging Infrastructure," and "Managing EV and Smart Grid Integration." The sessions will include experts from the fields of utility standards and policy, and energy and environmental research.
GridWeek 2010 offers a broad range of experts and sessions on the Smart Grid's impact on the economy, the electric utility infrastructure, consumers and the environment -- helping to set the agenda for Smart Grid advancement. The conference will host more than 150 speakers, participating in 40 sessions, covering Smart Grid issues and topics centered around four key themes: International Collaboration, the Consumer, Smart Grid Deployment, and Putting Smart Grid on the Fast Track.
