El Chico 1/2 Price Fajitas Preview for this Oscar Weekend
DALLAS, Feb. 24, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- In celebration of Oscar weekend, El Chico Tex-Mex Restaurants announced today that their award-winning combination fajitas are 1/2 priced for two all day this Friday, Saturday and Sunday, February 25 -27. The event is a preview of the upcoming 1/2 price combination fajitas for two every Tuesday after 5:00 PM premiering March 8.
El Chico was one of the first restaurants to introduce fajitas to diners nearly 30 years ago. Today the ubiquitous dish is included on menus of myriad restaurants. However, El Chico Tex-Mex Restaurants have remained faithful to the original recipe featuring thin slices of skirt steak, tender chicken breast, onions and bell pepper on a sizzling skillet with hot flour tortillas. The authentic Tex-Mex dish is served with Mexican rice, frijoles rancheros, pico de gallo, sour cream, guacamole or shredded cheddar.
Like the Academy Awards and the Oscars, El Chico has its origins in the late 1920s. Back then, Adelaida Cuellar created a following for her authentic recipes from Mexico. In 1940, Adelaida Cuellar's five sons took their mother's famous recipes and opened their doors to the first El Chico restaurant in Dallas, Texas. When Gilbert Cuellar called it "Texas-style Mexican food," the name "Tex-Mex" stuck. A tradition was born.
Today, El Chico Restaurants can be found throughout the Southern United States. And the Cuellar recipes, work ethic and determination can still be found in the kitchen.
El Chico Tex-Mex Restaurants is part of Consolidated Restaurant Operations (CRO) which operates 117 restaurants throughout the U.S., Britain, Egypt and the United Arab Emirates.
