Efficiency Greatly Improves with Addition of Automatic Test Function to "Developers AppKitBox - Remote TestKit"
TOKYO, March 17, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- NTT Resonant Inc. added on March 17 an automatic test function to "Developers AppKitBox - Remote TestKit" (http://appkitbox.com/en/testkit), a cloud-based remote smartphone app and website verification service featuring a host of handsets rented on a time-shared basis for testing. Now, developers can test multiple handsets simultaneously, using a single test script created with Selenium (*1). "Remote TestKit" automatically produces a report on test results, showing an all-in-one list of their screen shots for confirmation. This will allow developers to reduce testing time.
In addition, NTT Docomo's easy-to-use "Raku-Raku SMART PHONE" was added to a rental list for "Remote TestKit" -- cloud-based smartphone app/website verification service.
(*1) Selenium is an open-source test tool. It enables developers to create test scripts directly by handling a web browser.
1. Automatic test function
Smartphones have model-to-model differences, requiring developers to take much time as they have to run even a single test on multiple handsets. Now with "Remote TestKit" fitted with the automatic test function, developers can run a single test script on multiple smartphones simultaneously. Test results are automatically stored together with screen shots for each handset. Developers can confirm the test results with the all-in-one list. The problem of developers can thus be resolved. This function is available only for the users of the "Flat Plan."

2. Outline of other updates
(1) NTT Docomo's "Raku-Raku SMART PHONE" added to rental service list
NTT Docomo's "Raku-Raku SMART PHONE(easy-to-use mobile phones for beginners)" is added to a list of smartphones available for "Remote TestKit". The smartphone is equipped with the Docomo-customized Android OS.
(2) More flexible timing of releasing rental handsets for "Flat Plan" users
Developers are now able to release rental smartphones at any time of their choice. Previously, they had to wait for at least 30 minutes before renting another handset for testing. Now, developers can release a handset even if the remaining period is less than 30 minutes and rent another one. This function is available for "Flat Plan" users.
(3) Mac OS users can use "adb shell" start function
Mac OS users can start up the "adb shell" function directly from the menu. A similar function is already available for Windows clients.
