Edward Jones Enters Partnership With National WWI Museum As Part of Ongoing Support of Military Veteran Hiring
ST. LOUIS, Oct. 31, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Financial services firm Edward Jones announced today a partnership with the National World War I (WWI) Museum at Liberty Memorial in Kansas City, Missouri, continuing its long-standing commitment to support military veterans. Edward Jones has been awarded exclusive naming rights for the Museum's Research Center and the Museum's Centennial Flag Program.
"We are honored to be a significant sponsor of this fine institution honoring the men and women who served in the first World War," said Jim Weddle, managing partner of Edward Jones. "Edward Jones has a long legacy of offering military veterans fulfilling, long-term careers. In fact, our firm's founder, Edward Jones Sr. served in WWI, so a partnership with the museum and its network of military veterans was a natural fit. We look forward to working together to support and honor our country's brave servicemen and women."
In addition to naming rights, the sponsorship of $150,000, grants Edward Jones access to the WWI Museum's other assets, including usage of the J.C. Nichols Auditorium, and rights to future WWI Museum authorized traveling exhibits.
"We are excited to embark on a new path with a firm as established and well-respected as Edward Jones," said Museum President & CEO Dr. Matthew Naylor. "Through this generous support, we will be able to more deeply serve our mission to inspire thought, dialogue and learning for individuals about World War I and its impact and our commitment to honoring our military veterans."
To kick off the partnership, yesterday Edward Jones and the National World War I Museum hosted an event that convened General Richard Myers, who served as Chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff from 2001 to 2005, and a panel of Edward Jones financial advisors who are military veterans to discuss their experiences transitioning into the civilian workforce. The event was also attended by active military who are preparing to transition out of the service. The event was concluded by a networking reception and tours of the museum.
Edward Jones is nationally recognized as a leader in offering career opportunities to military veterans. The firm was named a winner for the 2013 Most Valuable Employers (MVE) for Military® by CivilianJobs.com, as well as received recognition from G.I.
