Eddie Bauer Partners With One Warm Coat for Coast-to-Coast Coat Drive
SEATTLE, Sept. 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Eddie Bauer, a specialty retailer of sportswear, outerwear, gear and accessories for the active, outdoor lifestyle, announced today a coast-to-coast coat drive in partnership with One Warm Coat, the only national non-profit organization that works with local agencies to distribute donated coats for free, to people in need.
From October 1 through November 21, Eddie Bauer retail stores in eight cities from coast-to-coast will dedicate days to collecting coats and raising awareness for those in need in their local communities. At certain locations, visitors will be able to check out the Eddie Bauer First Ascent custom Airstream trailer, which has traveled around the country with First Ascent guides testing new mountaineering and ski gear. People who donate a used coat on-site will receive a 20 percent discount coupon from Eddie Bauer.
"Eddie Bauer knew more than anyone that a jacket can save a life. In fact, he patented the first down jacket in the U.S. after nearly freezing to death on a fishing trip," said Neil Fiske, president and CEO of Eddie Bauer. "In partnering with One Warm Coat, we hope to raise awareness about the increasing need for this basic necessity and impact communities where our stores are located."
One Warm Coat has a long-standing commitment with groups, companies and organizations across the country to deliver donated coats directly to local agencies who in turn ensure coats are distributed free of charge to people in need. In support of their mission, Eddie Bauer is donating $10,000 to One Warm Coat.
"One Warm Coat is thrilled to be working with Eddie Bauer," said Sherri Wood, president and national coordinator for One Warm Coat. "We have provided more than 1.5 million coats since 1992 and with support from such a high-profile brand, we are confident we will reach our goal of 1 million coats donated in 2010 alone."
