PITTSBURGH, May 21, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Dynamics Inc., an innovator in next-generation payment devices, today announced the launch of the LifeCode™ card – a revolutionary flexible, electronic card – that may give first responders access to an individual's potentially life-saving information.

One of the leading causes of death due to injury or illness is not the affliction itself, but rather a lack of access for first responders to life-saving information in an emergency situation. With the new LifeCode™ card, consumers can make vital life-saving information readily available to EMTs and other first responders in the event that they lose consciousness during an emergency. First responders do not need any new equipment or training to utilize the card.
A driver's license sized card, the new LifeCode™ card was designed for convenient use by both first responders and consumers. When arriving at an emergency, first responders (police, firefighters, EMTs, etc.) are trained to locate a victim's driver's license. With this in mind, the LifeCode™ card was designed to attach to a driver's license through an easy-to-use emergency sleeve (included with purchase). As a result, when first responders retrieve your driver's license, they also retrieve your LifeCode™ card.
First responders can simply press an electronic button on the card to receive a secure, one-time code, which is displayed on the face of the card. First responders enter the code on the LifeCode™ card's secure website to gain access to life-saving information, such as allergies or medical conditions. This vital information can either be relayed to a hospital or used for treatment on the scene. To increase security, the code changes each time it is used. If an old code is compromised, it cannot be used to access the site.
"During an emergency, the speed of treatment often determines a victim's survival," said Jeff Mullen, CEO and Founder of Dynamics. "Your most important medical information is usually information you can remember. But, when you are unconscious you obviously can't convey this information to people trying to save your life. Dynamics Inc. designed this card to allow individuals to share their life-saving information when they cannot, while not requiring first responders to change behavior or buy any new equipment. Any individual that carries a LifeCode™ card – regardless of age or medical history – may have a reduced chance of death."
When setting up their card, a consumer can enter a variety of potentially life-saving information - from emergency contacts to allergy information. Users are given complete control of what information is stored on Dynamics' secure website and what information can be accessed by a first responder. Additionally, high-priority information can be printed directly on the back of the customer's personalized LifeCode™ card. More detailed information, such as hospital entrance form information, can be accessed online with the secure code generated from the LifeCode™ card. The service also lets a consumer add profiles for dependent minors. In this manner, parents can add records for their children so the parent can retrieve the information for a specific child if ever needed.
The LifeCode™ card was recognized as a Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2012 Best in Show runner up for providing life-saving products through innovative technologies.
