DYMO/Mimio Opens "Bridging the Gap" Technology Grant to K-12 Educators Across The Nation
Third Grant in Series Offers Educators Chance to Win Free Interactive Hardware and Software Tools
CAMBRIDGE, Mass., Nov. 3, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- DYMO/Mimio has introduced the third grant award in its classroom technology grant series—the "Bridging the Gap" grant. As the American education system faces increasingly challenging budget limitations, the "Bridging the Gap" grant offers K-12 educators a distinct opportunity to win MimioClassroom™ interactive tools and curriculum support for their school or district. DYMO/Mimio's grant programs are unique in that teachers may apply individually rather than requiring a school or district application.
This latest grant is the first from DYMO/Mimio to incorporate Headsprout Reading Comprehension tools, providing research-based instruction that teaches learners how to comprehend text in an engaging, interactive, personalized environment. The program features a patented adaptive design that identifies and tracks error patterns for each user and immediately adjusts instruction to address any weaknesses.
"DYMO/Mimio's grant program embodies our commitment to support teachers and schools by giving them access to the latest interactive teaching tools," says Magen McGahee, Leader of Federal Programs and District Initiatives. "With the 'Bridging the Gap' grant, we're evolving our program to include Headsprout, the newest addition to the DYMO/Mimio family. In addition to creating a more dynamic classroom environment, this robust combination of hardware and software will help teachers specifically boost their students' reading comprehension—an essential skill for succeeding in all subjects, including math and sciences."
To qualify for the "Bridging the Gap" grant, applicants must demonstrate how they will blend individual student instruction through Headsprout Reading Comprehension software with group-focused lessons taught using DYMO/Mimio hardware, creating a complete classroom solution and "Bridging the Gap" across multiple levels of learning. Applications should exhibit unique approaches to creatively engage students using interactive teaching technology. Submissions must also provide a detailed description of the proposed project, including specifics about the needs of the school or district and dissemination plans.
Completed grant applications and supporting documentation should be submitted to [email protected] by 5 p.m. EST on Friday, November 25, 2011.
Two winning applicants will each receive five MimioTeach™ interactive systems, which transform any dry erase whiteboard into a fully-interactive whiteboard, five MimioPad™ wireless tablets that allow users to interact with their MimioTeach-enabled whiteboard from anywhere in the classroom, and five MimioView™ document cameras, which feature simple plug-and-play integration with the rest of the product suite. Each teacher will also receive five licenses to set up classrooms in their district with Headsprout Reading Comprehension, plus on-site training with a DYMO/Mimio Teaching and Learning Specialist.
