MOUNT VERNON, N.Y., Feb. 18, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Dr. Irvin L. McCaine, D.D.S. is recognized by Continental Who's Who with the 2016 Lifetime Achievement award in the field of Dentistry as a result of Excellence as both a retired and still working dentist and Assistant Professor of Dentistry at Albert Einstein College of Medicine.
Inspired to become a dentist as a child with many cavities, Dr. McCaine vowed to help people save their teeth as his dentist did for him. Dr. McCaine's dental career as a civilian began with working as a dentist in many dental offices and one hospital appointment as a dental pediatric attending teaching pediatric dentistry to dental residents. On October 26, 1963 he treated his first patient in his own dental office. He stayed part-time for five years, adding a practice day once a year until full-time plus part-time Hospital Attending until 1992. After retiring from his dental practice in 1992, Dr. McCaine wanted to continue to educate others about the field of Dentistry. To achieve this goal, Dr. McCaine joined Montefiore Medical Center as an attending general practice dentist teaching general practice residents.
After retiring from Montefiore, he started work as a dentist attending for Jacobi Medical Center and the North Central Bronx Hospital. As a result of professionalism and expertise in the field of dentistry, Dr. McCaine was honored as a guest lecturer at the 22nd National Convention Jamaica Dental Association, Jamaica, W. I. A member of the Ninth District Dental Association and life member of American Dental Association, Dr. McCaine earned his BA from the University of California, Berkeley and also holds a Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree from Howard University. After graduating with his D.D.S., Dr. McCaine served as a captain in the US Army Dental Corps for two years and completed a residency at the Montefiore Medical Center. The military was a natural choice for Dr. McCaine as his deceased father was a DDS and oral surgeon with the rank of Lt. Colonel in the US Air Force for almost forty years.
