Dr. Adrienne C. Scheck, Ph.D. is recognized by Continental Who's Who

PHOENIX, May 3, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Dr. Adrienne C. Scheck, Ph.D. is recognized by Continental Who's Who as a 2016 Pinnacle Professional of The Year in the field of Scientific Research as a result of her role as an Associate Professor with Barrow Neurological Institute (BNI), the world's largest neurological disease treatment and research institution.

Barrow Neurological Institute (BNI) at St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center is the world's largest dedicated neurosurgical center and a leader in neurosurgical training, research, and patient care. More operative neurosurgical procedures take place at Barrow than at any other institution in the United States.

As an Associate Professor, Dr. Scheck specializes in research involving metabolic and standard care therapies; brain tum or therapy; therapy resistance; and the development of new prognostic markers for brain tumors. Her research helps to develop novel adjuvant therapies for the treatment of brain tumors through the use of various molecular and molecular genetics techniques to investigate why current therapies sometimes fail.

Dr. Scheck currently serves as the Chair of the Board of Directors of Southwest Behavioral Health Services and on the Advisory Board of a number High School Biotechnology Programs in the Phoenix area. In addition, she is a member of the American Association for Cancer Research and the Society for Neuro-Oncology. She serves as a Brain Tumor Research Specialist for the Medical Board of Directors for the Matthew's Friends Organization, and on the Medical Advisory Board for the MaxLove Project. She also maintains her position as a reviewer for a number of Professional Journals and is on the Editorial Board of, CNS Oncology and World Journal of Surgical, Medical and Radiation Oncology.

Dr. Scheck earned a Ph.D. in Biology from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute as well as a B.A. in Biology from the University of Rochester.
