Doximity Medical Network Grows to 200,000 Physician Members
Network Triples in Last Year, Charting the 'Medical Graph'
SAN MATEO, Calif., Aug. 27, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Doximity, the professional network for physicians, today announced it has crossed the 200,000 member milestone. With nearly 30% of U.S. doctors on board, Doximity members span every city, every sub-specialty and every academic medical center in the country. In a June 2013 survey by the American College of Physicians, Doximity was named one of the Top Five "Most Used" apps by physicians.
The 200,000th member was an Oncologist who joined following an invite from a local Surgeon. After verifying his identity and completing his online CV, he securely emailed and traded private phone lines with 40 other colleagues, including: several surgeons at his hospital, former co-residents now working across the country as sub-specialists, and a co-author of paper he published in 2008.
Medicine is a team sport. And with nearly 10 million unique connections between physicians, Doximity is charting the 'medical graph' of healthcare's teams, referral clusters, and hubs of expertise. With HIPAA-grade encryption, Doximity allows members to communicate quickly and efficiently about patient issues.
"Doximity's physician directory and HIPAA-secure messaging have saved valuable time in my practice," says Dr. Greg Kurio, Director of Fetal Echocardiography at Children's Hospital Oakland. "Last week, for example, I was able to quickly coordinate with an infant's primary pediatrician and securely exchange key findings in the patient's workup, saving precious time in getting this baby the needed therapy."
In the three years since its founding, Doximity has assembled a broad, nationwide community of accomplished clinicians who support each other through faster, better-targeted referrals; improved care coordination; and clinical knowledge-sharing.
"By focusing on the highly specialized needs of physicians, Doximity has succeeded in creating the largest 'medical graph' of how healthcare communications flow," said Konstantin Guericke, Doximity board member and co-founder of LinkedIn. "As a patient, I know I'm getting better care when my doctor can quickly consult her colleagues and the best in the field on Doximity."
