LAS VEGAS, Nov. 16, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- With so much to do and see in Las Vegas, visitors no longer have to leave it to chance – they can plan how to get around with new transit app rideRTC. Launched by the Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada's (RTC), rideRTC gives customers the flexibility and freedom to plan their trips, buy their passes, and find their buses through one convenient mobile application, making it easier than ever to see the glittering lights of the Strip to historic downtown Las Vegas.
"RTC transit takes you where Vegas takes you, yet potential riders, especially visitors, may not know where to find bus stops, how transit can get them to their destinations, or how to buy tickets," said Tina Quigley, RTC general manager. "The new rideRTC app removes all of these challenges visitors face in a new city and puts the information conveniently in the palm of their hand."
Now until April 30, new users who download the app and sign up for a rideRTC account will be entered into a monthly drawing for one $150 VISA gift card, courtesy of AT&T. No purchase is necessary.
Available on Apple and Android devices, rideRTC enables visitors to conveniently plan their transit trip while in Las Vegas or before they even leave home. The new app makes it easy to buy transit passes for any RTC route, which takes passengers to and from the airport, the Las Vegas Strip, and downtown, to name just a few places.
rideRTC's integration with TransitApp, used by millions of transit riders across the country, provides customers helpful transit information for:
- Locating transit routes and stops near their current location
- Accessing upcoming arrival times for bus routes
- Determining real-time location of buses
- Planning trips that also include different forms of transportation, including the new RTC Bike Share program in downtown Las Vegas and Uber.
Mobile tickets are activated on the customer's smartphone and validated by showing the driver. The RTC is working to install electronic ticket readers on all transit vehicles over the next several months.
Serving tens of thousands of people every day, RTC transit is a convenient and cost-efficient way to get around town. The popular Deuce on the Strip offers riders a double-decker experience perfect for sightseeing with stops at nearly every major destination, while the Strip and Downtown Express provides faster service with limited stops in sleek streetcar style vehicles.
The rideRTC app also offers customers with reduced-fare ID cards the option to purchase reduced fare tickets for seniors (60-plus years of age), disabled riders and children (6-17 years of age).
