TORONTO, June 14 /PRNewswire/ - Clothing retailer Roots is launching a collaboration with prominent writer & visual artist Douglas Coupland on a limited-edition clothing and accessory collection debuting July 8th and available for sale in the United States at www.roots.com/douglascoupland.
The ROOTS X DOUGLAS COUPLAND collection includes apparel for women/men/children, accessories, leather goods, design items, furniture and art. This is the first time Douglas Coupland has designed fashion wearables. He is best known as the internationally best-selling author of "Generation X", "JPod" and "Generation A".
"I've never seen much difference between writing or making visual art or designing furniture or clothing." says Coupland. "It's still my brain; I'm just using different parts of it for different things."
"For the first time, we stepped back and left the design to an outside designer," explains Don Green, Co-founder of Roots. "Visually the collection is strong plus Douglas Coupland has once again shown his trademark humour and brilliance while exploring fashion."
The ROOTS X DOUGLAS COUPLAND collection launches in select Roots stores and available for sale in the United States online on July 8th. Prices range from $3.99 to $1,973 for a limited-edition silver leather "Centennial" jacket hand-signed by the artist.
Roots Facebook fans have exclusive access to pre-purchase items in a pop-up store on Facebook (facebook.com/roots) on June 18th.
This collection is a partnership between Roots and Douglas Coupland, with producer Chris Nanos from Radke Films and art sales by dealer Daniel Faria from Clark & Faria.
