Doubleday Canada to Publish the First Book by Superstar Mike Myers
TORONTO, March 8, 2016 /PRNewswire/ - Doubleday Canada is very proud to announce the publishing event of 2016 – a funny, thoughtful and affectionate analysis of his home and native land by Canadian comedy icon Mike Myers. Penguin Random House Canada president and publisher Kristin Cochrane arranged the deal with Mel Berger at WME. The book - part memoir, part history, and complete entertainment - will be published in late fall 2016.
"I'm an actor, producer and writer, but no description of me is complete without saying I'm a Canadian," says Mike Myers. "In 1967, Canada turned 100. Canadians all across the country made Centennial projects. This book is my Centennial Project. I'm handing it in a little late.....sorry."
"I have had the honour to take an early look at Mike Myers' brilliant first book and cannot wait to share it with other Canadians when it goes on sale this fall," says Kristin Cochrane. "It will be very funny – of course – but also a deeply personal and insightful take on Canadians and Canada as a whole. In all that he's created - including some of the most memorable comic characters of our time - I've always enjoyed the wink and the nod he gives his homeland. With this, his first book, Mike will bring his love for Canada centre stage at a time when the country is once again preparing to play a larger role on the international stage."
In his new book, Mike Myers will present his heartfelt and hilarious view of the country's past, present and future as he sets out to define the Canadian mystique. A true patriot who happens to be an expatriate, Myers is in a unique position to explore Canada from within and without. He will show what makes Canada Canada, Canadians Canadians, and what being Canadian has always meant to him.
Fully illustrated throughout - and including many images from Mike Myers' personal archive - this will be THE book of 2016, and the perfect way for readers coast-to-coast to begin celebrating the 2017 sesquicentennial.
